"Thank you, Kopala! Wow! Just wow!" Danny Kaya told the crowd in the early hours of Sunday morning, closing a Copperbelt edition of his eighth annual music festival that drew one of the region's biggest live audiences of the year.
Ty2 ran through Smile and Nikukonde, General Ozzy delivered Don't Give Up, Judy Yo brought Chikawama, and Mampi had the venue jumping with Similiya — a lineup the festival has built its reputation on: premier homegrown talent, no filler.
The night's emotional peak came after 01:00, when Danny Kaya dedicated the final segment to the late Dandy Krazy, the celebrated artist who died in a road accident on the Lusaka–Ndola road while travelling to a performance.
The Lusaka edition followed this Saturday, 5 September, at the Showgrounds Polo Field, with Angela Nyerize and Izrael joining the touring lineup. In a year when Zambian music is pushing outward — from 76 Drums' Fastlane EP to a steady stream of cross-border collaborations — the festival remains the scene's anchor event.
