Kedrick Silondwa needed every one of his 42 points — and then a countback — to win the Discover Insurance Golf Championship at Nkana Golf Club, topping a tightly contested field off a 12 handicap to collect the overall winner's trophy and a K3,500 voucher.
"It's been a great day of golf," Silondwa said after receiving the trophy. "It was really competitive and you made me work hard for my reward." In the men's category, Sam Mpundu also carded 42 points to take top prize on countback ahead of Tashbekov Djurabek, with Frank Masaka third on 35. Gladys Mudenda won the women's category outright with 35 points, one clear of Emma Makoni, with Elisa Manjolo third on 33.
Mpundu added the nearest-to-the-pin prize, Wiaan Le Roux took the men's longest drive and Manjolo the women's. Discover Insurance vice-board chairperson Chisuwo Hamwela said the tournament marked the company's fourth anniversary and its support for the Grow Zambia Agenda.
