The courtroom gave Mufulira Wanderers a week; the pressure group gave them no peace at all. Wednesday's 08:00 hearing in the action challenging the legality of the club's executive committee was adjourned to Wednesday, 14 October, Mafken FM reported — the second time in a week the nine-time champions' boardroom troubles have had to share the calendar with the fixture list.
The claim remains as filed: Davies Nsama, a former physical trainer at the club, and the Mufulira Wanderers Community Pressure Group contend the executive's tenure has expired and that its continued running of the club is unlawful. The adjournment moved the argument from the courtroom to the statement cycle — the pressure group used the week to demand that the executive "resign with immediate effect" and hand the club back to what it calls its rightful owners.
The executive's answer is unchanged, and it is procedural before it is anything else: according to the club's records, the people behind the action are not paid-up members of Mufulira Wanderers — a standing objection that questions their right to sue at all. The papers remain with the legal department of sponsors Mopani Copper Mines, and the club has repeated that it will comply with the court process while keeping football first: training continues, and the weekend's fixture is approached as if the case did not exist.
What the 14th will first decide is narrow — who may bring a members' club to book, and in which forum. What it keeps open is the question that has outlasted every committee at Kantanshi: who actually owns Mighty — the executive of record, the members on the register, or the community that fills Shinde Stadium and now sues in its name? The court gets another week to think. So, uncomfortably, does everyone else.
Confirmed vs. disputed
Confirmed: The adjournment of Wednesday's 08:00 hearing to 14 October (Mafken FM); the parties to the action; the club's standing objection and the involvement of Mopani's legal department; the pressure group's public demand for the executive's immediate resignation.
Disputed or untested: Whether the executive's tenure has in fact expired; whether the plaintiffs are paid-up members entitled to sue; whether the pressure group speaks for the wider support — none of which the court had ruled on by press time.
