Zambia's live-music season is taking shape. The Stanbic Music Festival — one of the country's most reliable big stages — is returning with what organisers promise is a star-studded local lineup, with broadcaster Mr 260 Kchinga and presenter Michie announced as hosts and Kalindula favourite Mwila Mulenga among the first confirmed performers.
Days earlier, the Kwacha Music Awards confirmed 27 November 2026 for its ceremony, setting the industry's awards calendar and giving the festival circuit a finish line to build toward. Nominations and category announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
It has been a busy quarter for Zambian stages: the eighth Danny Kaya Music Festival packed out its Copperbelt venue at the start of September, and the Lusaka Short Film Festival closed a breakout edition with sold-out screenings — evidence, promoters say, that audiences are paying for local product again.
The pattern is worth noting. Corporate sponsorship — long the missing middle of Zambian entertainment — is returning to music first, and the Kalindula revival is giving festivals a sound that is identifiably Zambian rather than imported. If the Stanbic lineup delivers on its billing, this season could mark the moment the live circuit finally matched the streaming numbers.
